Sandanski is a small town, situated at 224m above sea level at the foot of the Pirin Mountains, on the banks of the Sandanska Bistritsa River.

The climate there is pretty different from the one of the places around. The winters in Sandanski are short and mild and during the summer the weather is hot for a long period of time.
